SKUAST-K bags mega ICAR-World Bank funded project

SKUAST-K is continuing with its winning streak, ranked 10th best State Agricultural University and figuring along with top institutions of the country as the winners of IIGP  2019. SKUAST Kashmir has bagged a mega educational grant under ICAR-World Bank funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project with a financial outlay of  Rs.29.26 crore. The project is aimed at bringing reforms in agricultural education for improving infrastructure, enhancing skill and competence of faculty and students,  inspiring students for creativity and innovation and making them more skillful for improved employability and entrepreneurship.The Project proposal of SKUAST-Kashmir  has rated as a model for higher education in agriculture for the country by international experts from USA and appreciated in all screening committees for its  innovativeness and reformative initiatives. The project grant shall be utilized to create state of art educational infrastructure, teaching and learning ambience as well as  undertaking a massive reform in education, recruitment and governance and to promote the faculty and student diversity. The project also seeks to forge collaboration  with industry and premier international institutions for faculty and student exchange. Under the project the university aims to bring up Innovation & Discovery Centre to  impart technical skills that would drive the 4th industrial revolution, conduct ideation and incubation events for student start-ups.Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir Prof.  Nazeer Ahmed congratulated the team of university scientists and staff for building this winning mega project and thanked the Director General ICAR, National Director  NAHEP, National Coordinator IDP and the State Government for their support, encouragement and faith in SKUAST-K.  University is shortly holding a launch workshop of  the project to formally kick start proposed activities under the project.
