The PWD Minister  Vijay Inder Singla today took stock of the ongoing work pertaining to the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor which is to be opened on the eve of 550th Prakash Purb of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The minister also elaborated that the work on the Indian side would be completed by 31st October. Mr. Singla expressed satisfaction over the works going on at the Zero Line at the International border between India and Pakistan besides roads, bridges and Integrated Check Post. He also said that the Punjab Government has set a target for completing the works between 15-31 October and the way they are proceeding, is a matter of great satisfaction. The minister further said that the bridge connecting India and Pakistan has been completed on the Indian side but the Pakistani part is yet to see completion. He also divulged that till the time both bridges get connected with each other the bridge on the Indian side would remain closed. As part of the alternative arrangements, a way has been kept to enable the devotees to have 'Darshan' of Gurudwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib. The officers of the department have been directed to complete the work on the upgradation of approach roads connecting this historical town of Dera Baba Nanak speedily. Disclosing more, he also said that the Batala - Dera Baba Nanak road is being widened 7-10  metres till the extent of 2.10 Km at the cost of Rs. 3.05 Crore, Ramdas - Dera Baba Nanak road is being widened 5.5/7-10 metres till the extent of 3.10 Km at a cost of Rs. 3.60 crores while Fatehgarh Churian - Dera Baba Nanak road is being widened 900 metres at a cost of Rs. 1.49 crores.Mr. Singla further added that 13 Crore 'Nanak Naam Leva Sangat' was praying for the darshan of Gurudwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib which is all set to be fulfilled now. He also said that it is the result of the prayers of Sangat that the works are going on speedily with the officers and employees of the department engaged headlong to complete these before the 550th Prakash Purb celebrations. He also announced that every officer and employee of the department would be honoured with certificates. The minister also interacted with the labourers.Among others present on the occasion included the Chief Engineer PWD Mr. Arun Kumar, Superitending Engineer Mr. Sukhdev Singh and the XEN Mr. Harjot Singh.
