Secretary R&B inspects developmental works in Kishtwar

Flags off anti plastic rally, appeals people to shun use of plastic

Commissioner Secretary R&B/PWD Khurshid Ahmed Shah on Wednesday inspected developmental works including progress on road works being executed by  R&B/PWD, PMGSY, JKPCC in district Kishtwar.District Development Commissioner (DDC), Angrez Singh Rana, Chief Engineer PWD/ R&B, Jammu Nasir Goni, Chief  Engineer PMGSY Des Raj, Executive Director JKPCC N.D Khwaja, ADDC Mohammad Hanief Malik, ACD Anil Chandail, SDM Chatroo, XEN R&B Kishtwar, XEN  PMGSY, XEN JKPCC, besides concerned officers/officials were present.Secretary inspected Thal Kwat Road beyond Km 4, approach road to Polytechnic college  Cherhar, Improvement /upgradation of Gurian Pochhal road via Bindraban, Shalimar Trigam Road  and construction of Bridge Chatter on Kandni Ohli road and alignment  of Kandani to Ohli stretch.It was informed that earth work on Thal Kwat Road, beyond Km 4 and construction of 1.40 KM approach road to Polytechnic college Cherhar,  taken up under languishing projects scheme, is in progress.The Secretary said that the long pending demand   has been met with the opening of these roads which will  serve as a lifeline to the area.He further assured the general public that the government is committed to upgrade the road connectivity and identify the areas where link  roads and upgradation of existing roads is required.

He also inspected the upcoming building of Polytechnic College Cherhar and directed the executing agency to speed up the pace of work and ensure completion   before  winter season.Meanwhile, the Secretary, flagged off an anti-Plastic Rally under Swacchta Hi Seva campaign at Tehsil Office, Chatroo. The participants raised slogans  while carrying posters/banners/ displaying "say no to single use plastic" "don't be drastic, say no to plastic".Commissioner/ Secretary R&B/PWD appealed the public to  shun the use of single use plastic which is a hazard for environment. “It is creating serious health related problems and dreadful diseases both in aquatic and terrestrial  plants and animals” he said.On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner stated that the   purpose of holding such rallies and awareness programmes is to inculcate the  importance of sanitation in the minds of the masses.He further stated that district administration is dealing strictly against the defaulters who made use of  plastic/polythene.Further, Gram Panchayat Development Plan was formulated while conducting gram Sabha's at Panchayat level.Later, Commissioner Secretary  R&B/PWD convened a meeting with XENs of PWD, PMGSY, JKPCC and reviewed progress of ongoing projects in the district Kishtwar.
