Strengthening and upgradation of rural power supply in district to take place at RS 21 crore

Lok Sabha Member from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh today said that Rs 21 crore would be spent of strengthening and upgradation of the power infrastructure in Rural areas of the district.Chairing a meeting regarding the implementation of the Scheme here at the District Administrative Complex, the Lok Sabha Member, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh, said that under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Jyoti Yojna this sum has been sanctioned for the rural areas of the district. He said that this scheme would enable to initiate much awaited power reforms in the rural areas. Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that the scheme focuses on feeder separation (rural households & agricultural) and strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution infrastructure in rural areas.The Lok Sabha Member said that This scheme would help in providing round the clock power to rural households and adequate power to agricultural consumers. He said that major components of the scheme were feeder separation; strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution network, Micro grid and off grid distribution network and Rural electrification besides others. Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that the implementation of this scheme shall ensure the improvement in agricultural productivity and electrification of all the households.The Lok Sabha Member asked the officers of the POWERCOM to implement this scheme zealously so that more and more people were benefitted from it. Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that he would personally monitor this scheme regularly to ensure its effective implementation.The Additional Deputy Commissioner assured the Lok Sabha Member that the district administration would ensure the effective and time bound implementation of the scheme.On the occasion Deputy Engineer PSPCL Mr DK Sharma, Additional Superintendent Engineer Mr Jangveer Singh and others were also present.
