Women Sarpanches Called Upon To Promote Nutritional Habits In The Villages

Under the ongoing nutrition month (Poshan Maah), the Deputy Commissioner Mansa Mrs Apneet Riyait today convened a meeting with the women sarpanches of various villages of the district Mansa.Speaking to the sarpanches she said that the women are torch bearers of nation and being females, they had the additional responsibility of promoting the best of nutrition practices., She said that the need of hour was not to give their families costly food, but give the food that was high in nutrition. She said that already 50 nutrition gardens (poshan bagichis) have been set up at various anganwaris with the sole purpose mof promoting kitchen gardening amongst women so that they can create their own organic and chemical free food and feed their families. She said that special care should be taken of the pregnant mothers, new borns and children upto to the age of 6 years to emsure that they complete all the growth parameters.Speaking at the even District Program officer Mrs Avinash Kaur Walia apprised that during the Poshan maah an array of activities were conducted in the  district including rallies, jago, god bharai nof pregnant mothers, poshan mela, poshan chaupal etc to inculcate healthy eating habits.
