DC Chairs Sarpanchs, Panchs Convention at Kupwara

A convention of Sarpanchs, Panchs of Kupwara and Lolab constituency was held today at town hall Kupwara under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg.The aim of the programme was to highlight the utilization of SBM 14th FC Funds, ban on use of polythene and disposal of plastic with focus on 2nd October. Power point presentation and various videos were shown to aware the Sarpanchs about ill effects of plastic and polythene. Sarpanchs, Panchs and district authorities spoke on the occasion.Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner, said that Sarpanchs of the district should work for the welfare of the people. He urged that the Sarpanchs of the district should hold weekly meetings with Panchayat secretaries and members of the village/mohalla committees to list the works to be taken under 14th FC and other schemes of the Government like MGNERGA & SBM.He said that the Sarpanchs should focus on the development of the Panchayat halqas by making new plans, which are to be taken under upcoming financial year. He also added that Panchs and Sarpanchs should create mass awareness in their villages and wards regarding the ill effects of plastic on the environment.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmed Baba while speaking on the occasion said that Sarpanchs have to play an active role in the implementation of the ban on single use plastic to make the environment green and clean. He also said that the people of the district should revive the old culture by using cloth, cotton, jute bags to carry essentials from the market.Various other District officers spoke on the occasion and highlighted the schemes of their respective departments. District Panchayat Officer spoke on the S.B.M 14th FC, ban on use of polythene and disposal of plastic with focus on 2nd October. Dy CMO, CHO, CDPO, CAHO and DYSSO also highlighted the activities of their departments.
