High level meeting discusses issues, roadmap of Labour Department

A high level meeting between officers of Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, and J&K Labour and Employment Department was held today to discuss the issues/roadmap of Labour Department, Provident Fund Organization, ESI Scheme/ESI Corporation and Employment Department in view of Jammu and Kashmir Re-organization Act 2019.The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment delegation was headed by Union Secretary Labour and Employment, Heeraralal Samariya, and comprised Additional Secretary, Anurdah Prasad, DG. ESIC, Raj Kumar, CPFC, Sunil Barthwal, Chief Labour Commissioner (Central),   Rajan Verma, Additional CPFC, K.L. Taneja, FA/CAO in EPFO, Heemat Jain, Additional CPFC V. Ranganathan, and Regional Director, ESIC, Jammu A.K. Rawat.The team from J&K Labour and Employment Department was headed by Commissioner/Secretary Labour & Employment Department Sourabh Bhagat, and included Director, Employment, Y.P. Suman, Labour Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Khan, CEO/Secretary, Building and other Constructions Workers Welfare Board Muzaffar Ahmad Peer, Additional Secretary, Labour & Employment Department Khurshid Ahmad Shah, and other officers of the department.The central team discussed threadbare all the schemes/labour Acts operational in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The central team also reviewed the functioning of the Labour and Employment Department of Jammu and Kashmir and assured to consider all the proposals of the state under rules.The meeting also discussed to set up a Regional Labour Institute in Jammu and Kashmir, besides setting up of 100 bedded hospital at Ompora Budgam and five 30 bedded hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir (Two at Jammu, two at Kashmir and one at Ladakh) under ESIC.In addition the branch offices cum ESI Dispensaries in all the 22 districts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh has been proposed to set up under rules of ESI Corporation. The state officers also apprised the central team of various state and central level schemes operational in employment department for assistance to start ups, women entrepreneurs and providing seed capital to the new ventures. The Union team assured full cooperation to the state in funding of all the central entrepreneurship schemes in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Further for implementation of Pradaan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan and Pradhan Manri Laghu Viprai Yojna, the Secretary Govt. of India instructed the state officers to activate all common service centers for registration under these schemes for higher inclusion in these flagship pension schemes for unorganized workers.
