DC, CP and MC Commissioner sensitise Dusshera Committees regarding safety measures to ensure safety and security of people

Move aimed at averting any Amritsar like tragedy during ensuing Dusshera festival

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr Diperva Lakra today held a meeting with representatives of the Dusshera committees to sensitise about precautionary measures to be taken for averting any tragedy like Amritsar during upcoming festival.During the meeting the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Municipal Corporation Commissioner said that top most priority must be accorded for ensuring security and safety of the people on festival day. They said that the state government has already framed guidelines after the Amritsar tragedy to ensure that such unfortunate incident do not take place in future. The officers solicited fulsome support and cooperation of the Dusshera committees for ensuring that the festival was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety.The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Municipal Corporation Commissioner said that for seeking necessary permissions to organise Dusshera festival application must be submitted at the Sewa Kendra along with details like number of people expected to attend the event, number of loudspeakers, chairs  and other facilities. 

They said adequate number of fire extinguishers along with other safeguards to avert any sort of tragedy must also be taken care off. They said that entire site plan where the festival was to be observed with special emphasis of seating plan, traffic management, entry and exit points must also be duly submitted.The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Municipal Corporation Commissioner also said that proper videography of the entire event along with proper use of loud speaker as per permissible limits must be made. They said that the committees must ensure that there was no littering after the event and no loss to property or environment in terms of cutting/ pruning of trees takes place.The officers also said that the organisers having their venue near the national Highway or Railways would have to seek No Objection Certificate from the National Highway Authorities or the Railways.Deputy Commissioners of Police Mr Naresh Dogra and Mr RPS Pawar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms D Sudharvizhi and Mr Parminder Singh Bhandall, Assistant Commissioner Dr Shayari Malhotra and others were also present.
