DDC Kupwara inspects construction works of GDC Bohipora, WDC Salkoot

District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg today inspected ongoing construction work of Government Degree College (GDC) Boys Bohipora, and Women’s Degree College (WDC), Salkoot coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 16.23 crore in the district.The DDC was informed, that Rs 7.20 crore have been expended on the execution of WDC while as Rs 3.20 crore have been incurred on the construction of Lecture Block of GDC Kupwara.The DDC directed the executing agencies to speed up the pace of construction work and ensure that WDC is completed by December this year and Lecture Block of Boys Degree College by March 2020.At Salkoot, DDC gave directions for proper demarcation of land around the Women’s College for developing play field and other fencing works.Later, DDC had a detailed review meeting of district and sectoral officers and took stock of the status of the development projects in the district. The meeting was informed that 161 different development projects are under execution at a cost of Rs 450 crore under Languishing Projects Scheme. The DDC gave timeline of December end this year for completion of 100 projects out of 161.

Reviewing the status of projects under CAPEX Budget, DDC was informed that out of Rs 1309.71 lakhs, Rs 1228.11 lakhs have been released as regular share of CAPEX budget for current financial year to ensure completion of ongoing projects.The DDC in a separate meeting took stock of the measures put in place by district administration to make Kupwara district polythene/ plastic free zone. He stressed the need for launching a massive awareness campaign against the disastrous effects of plastic and polythene; for which, DDC urged all government employees including teachers and students to be the active participants of the campaign. He also directed concerned officers to conduct Gram Sabhas at village level and disseminate awareness at gross root level so that all rural as well as urban areas of the district could be made polythene/plastic free.The DDC also asked officers to make preparations for upcoming Block Development Council Election in the district.Among others the meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Abdul Majeed, Assistant Commissioner Development, SEs and other concerned officers.
