Punjab Government releases Rs.28.28 crore pertaining to sugarcane farmers of Cooperative Sugar Mill Bodiwala Pittha

The Punjab Government has cleared the entire balance of the sugarcane farmers of the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Bodiwala Pittha amounting to Rs.28,28,85,000. The MLA Fazilka Mr. Devinder Singh Ghubaya and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Manpreet Singh Chhatwal distributed cheques of the balance amount to the farmers during a function held in mill premises. Now, all the arrears have been cleared. In his address to the farmers at Cooperative Sugar Mill, Bodiwala Pittha, Mr. Devinder Singh Ghubaya said that he had requested the Cooperative and Jails Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa regarding the release of the balance amount of the sugarcane farmers of the Fazilka Cooperative Sugar Mill, which has been fulfilled. He also divulged that the PPCC President Mr. Sunil Jakhar, MLA Balluana Mr. Nathu Ram and the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Manpreet Singh Chhatwal have rendered yeoman's service in ensuring the release of the amount. Mr. Ghubaya further said that the payment of two years due to the sugarcane farmers has been released. "S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa assured me that no institution of the cooperative sector would be shut under his tenure", he added. He exhorted sugarcane farmers to sow maximum amount of sugarcane during September and October so as to ensure that the mill receives sugarcane for crushing purposes in accordance with its capacity. 

Mr. Ghubaya also said that the Fazilka mill is the lone one catering to 6 districts and is thus the backbone of the region and would not be allowed to shut operations. He said that instead efforts would be made to increase mill's capacity to 3000-5000 T.C.D., which would be connected to the cogeneration power plant here which would be supplied with requisite fuel thus making it self sufficient.The Deputy Commissioner Mr. Manpreet Singh Chhatwal, while addressing the sugarcane farmers, said that after the release of the balance amount, the mill would not face closure and every effort would be made by the District Administration to ensure it's smooth running. The General Manager Mr. Bhupinder Singh Gill thanked Cooperative and Jails Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and all the sugarcane farmers. He also appreciated the beautification drive being undertaken by the management and workers of the mill. All the dignitaries also planted saplings in the compound of the mill. The sugarcane farmers thanked Mr. Ghubaya and the Punjab Government. The stage was admirably compeered by the Cane Development Inspector Mr. Prithi Raj. On the occasion, Mr. Prem Kumar Kularia Khooi Khera, Mr. Surinder Kumar Beganwali, Mr. Balkar Singh Chuwareyanwali, Mr. Sherbaaz Singh Abhunn, Mr. Mohan Lal Bodiwala Pittha, Mr. Diwan Chand Nihal Khera, Mr. Ramandeep Kheowali Dhab, Mr. Vipan Kumar Muradwala, Mr. Varinder Pal Singh Jaurki Kankarwali, Mr. Des Singh Mahatam Nagar, Mr. Simarjit Singh Abhunn and Mr. Surinder Kumar Kheowali Dhab were also present.
