DDC Kupwara reviews SPMRM scheme

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg today convened a meeting of officers to review the physical and financial progress made under centrally sponsored scheme Shayama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM).The scheme is under operation in Khumriyaal cluster of Kupwara district.It was informed that Rural Development Department has taken up 131 different developmental works at a cost of Rs.6.27 Crore. Of this, work is in progress on 118 works which include construction of lanes/drains, pedestrian paths and fencing work. It was also informed that most of works are near completion.Under this scheme, the Education department has also expended Rs.10 lakh on the repairing and renovation of school buildings/play fields.Regarding the progress of Handicrafts and Handloom Departments, the DDC was informed that 140 unemployed youth are getting skill development training in eight different Centres in Khumriyaal cluster of the district under the scheme.Speaking at the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the officers to speed up the pace of construction works and ensure that all works are completed within two months.He directed the concerned officers of Agriculture and allied sectors to submit the work done report under the SPMRM on weekly basis.The DDC also stressed for holding of Gram Sabha to aware the people regarding various government schemes.The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Ab Majeed, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Directors Handicrafts & Handloom, Sheep Husbandry Officer, Executive Engineers of PHE & PDD, and other concerned officers.
