Advisor Kewal Krishan Sharma reviews developmental projects under CPWD

Directs effective synergy between executing agencies

Advisor to Governor, K K Sharma today held a detailed review of the works being undertaken by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and directed execution  of works in stipulated time.The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Mr Deeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary R&B  Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Secretary Ladakh Affairs and IT Ringzin Samphel, Special Director General CPWD S K Chawla and other senior officers.For effective start of  mega infrastructural projects in J&K, Advisor asked the officials of CPWD and R&B to synergize their activities for completion of public importance quality projects. He  said that R&B should be in constant touch with the central executing agency so that the capacity building of the local human resources can be done and they can be  effectively acquainted with the latest and modern engineering techniques.The Advisor directed taking into consideration adoption of tendering softwares and the process  in use by the central agency to minimize the tendering time considerably.

The Advisor also directed taking the local climatic conditions and architecture into consideration while implementing and executing the construction of new government  and public sector buildings.The meeting also sought expert opinion of the CPWD in the development of new colonies in the UTs maintaining the necessary care about  taking in consideration the local needs and demands.He also asked the CPWD officers to make better use of their expertise gained in working in other hilly regions of  country in construction of road infrastructure of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir besides deployment of sufficient manpower with required machinery.The meeting also  discussed the status of implementation of different developmental projects being undertaken by the agency like AIIMS at Jammu/Srinagar, IIT, IIM and other projects.
