DDC Budgam reviews functioning of Engineering Departments

District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai today convened a meeting to review pace of works being carried out under R&B, I&FC, PHE, PDD, PMGSY, UEEED, and ULB Departments.The meeting was attended by ADC Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, CPO, Rafiq Ahmad Dar, SE Hydraulics, GA Beigh, DIO, Executive Engineers, of R&B, PHE, PDD, UEED, PMGSY and ULB.

It was given out in the meeting that R&B department, out of the target of the 73 kilometers has  completed macadamization work on 60 kilometers of road length in the district, thus achieving the target of 85 percent. In addition, 4 numbers of roads in different areas will be completed under NABARD. Besides 6 road projects 3 each in Budgam and Chadoora divisions running under CRF at a cost of Rs. 31.85 crore will be completed within stipulated time period. Regarding the 27 languishing projects, the DDC instructed concerned to expedite work and complete all projects at an earliest.  

Similarly, under PHE sector, the meeting was told that at present the department is able to provide sufficient potable water to 414 villages, consisting 994 habitations across the district. The meeting was informed that work on 70 WSS schemes is in full swing to cover more areas.While reviewing the PDD sector, DDC was informed that PDD division Budgam is taking care of 25 receiving stations across whole district supplying electricity to 3400 substations. The meeting was also told that to cater emergency needs the department is keeping a fixed buffer stock of transformers available round the clock.

Under I&FC, it was given out that work on 59 different schemes including dredging, excavation and desilting of nallas  has been taken up at a cost of Rs. 152 crores funded by PMKSY and other centrally sponsored scheme. Out of this approved amount about 73 crores have already been expended till date.The DDC also took stock of the progress of ongoing developmental projects being carried out under PMGSY, UEED, ULB and stressed on early completion of the works. Keeping in view ensuing winter season, the DDC urged the officers to personally monitor the works at all locations and ensure issues related to land acquisition, compensation to land owners are sorted out at an earliest to avoid any unnecessary delay in the work process so that projects are completed in time.
