Board examinations: Incomplete syllabus, closed schools leave hundreds of Kashmiri students in trouble

Thousands of students from different parts of the Valley have been gearing up for their upcoming board examinations, likely to be held next month. The incomplete syllabus and closed institute amidst complete shutdown has put the career of hundreds of students at stake who are finding it difficult to get prepared for their exams on time.Kashmir News Observer (KNO) interacted with many students who are scheduled to appear in the examinations which is likely to be held in October. The students were worried about their career and stated that the incomplete syllabus has made their job difficult.The students, who looked visibly worried, said that they could have made their preparations now from the internet but unfortunately the services are also suspended in the Valley from last almost a month now.The students told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they couldn’t complete their syllabus due to the ongoing shutdown since August 05, 2019 as the schools and their coaching institutions continue to remain closed. “Many of us have also submitted the forms and other documents so that they appear in the board examinations. 

But, preparing for the examinations at this juncture has added to the mental torture of the student community especially those who are scheduled to appear in the board examinations,” students told KNO.The parents of these students appealed the government to take steps for their well-being so that they could heave a sigh of relief. “The government should either start coaching the students prior to their board examinations or should take other steps that include restoration of cellular services and internet facilities so that they (students) could prepare themselves on their own,” said Aijaz Ahmed Bhat, a parent.The schools as well as the coaching centers in the Valley have been shut since August 05, 2019 following the annulment of Article 370 and Article 35A and Jammu and Kashmir’s division into two Union Territories. Curbs were imposed by the authorities on August 05. The authorities later lifted the restrictions here after observing improvement in the situation while as the spontaneous shutdown is continued since then. The government though opened the schools up to high level but the attendance of students as per the administration was continuously low. (KNO)
