DDC reviews status of plantation drives in Rajouri

District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today held a meeting with the concerned officers to review the status of plantation drives being carried out in the district.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh Samyal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kotranka, Ved Parkash, Assistant Commissioner Development, Akhtar Qazi, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Thanamandi, Tanvir Khan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohammad Ashraf, Chief Horticulture Officer,  DFOs Territorial, Social Forestry and FPF, Deputy Director Planning, Bilal Mir and other officers.The District Sericulture Officer informed that about one lakh plants would be planted in the district, of which, 40 thousand saplings will be planted in convergence mode with MGNREGA.While taking review of Social Forestry, the DDC was informed that the department had a target of planting 90 thousand plants, of which, 77 thousand plants have been planted and the remaining 13 thousand will be planted during the winter season as part of winter plantation drive. 

Besides, 50 thousand plants have been distributed among schools, paramilitary forces, health and other institutions for plantation under farm forestry.It was informed that 11200 saplings have been planted in the district till date and plantation of remaining is in progress. Besides, 81000 saplings have been planted in Nowshera division so far.The DDC asked the Chief Education Officer to submit their requirement for plantation in the educational institutions. He also asked him to conduct rallies of students for generating awareness among the masses about the importance of plantation for survival of mankind.The DDC asked the officers to further intensify the plantation drives in the district to achieve the set target. He asked them to aware the masses about the role of plants in making the environment clean and green.It was decided that plantation drive shall be carried out on 30th of August, 2019 in PHE, PWD and DC office.The DDC also reviewed the status of Mulberry farms to be created in the district and was informed that the land has been acquired for the purpose. In order to ascertain hundred percent survival rate of mulberry plants, the DDC has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Nowshera.
