The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Punjab, has launched a state-wide membership drive under the tagline 'Aam Aadmi Army'. The drive was formally launched in Chandigarh on Wednesday, by party’s state president and parliamentarian, Bhagwant Mann, in the august presence of, among others, Leader of Opposition (LoP), Harpal Singh Cheema, Deputy Leader of Opposition (Dy LoP) Sarabjit Kaur Manuke and core committee chairman, Principal Budh Ram along with senior leadership. On the occasion, a booklet and record book highlighting the mission and objectives of the Aam Aadmi Army (AAA) was also released. Bhagwant Mann informed that the AAA team would reach out to each and every village and towns and city, and would t elect their team leader during the membership drive.Giving sidelights of the drive, Mann further said that the AAA would fight tooth and nail like the civilian army against the ‘mafia raj’, the illegitimate child of the Badals and Captain. The AAP leader said these self-centred and family-oriented politicians had not let the fruits of independence go down to the common man. People are dying under the scourge of floods, droughts, cancer, drugs and debt, saying that those at the helms of affairs, like Captain Amarinder Singh and Sukhbir Singh Badal were busy in sharing tweets on their twitter handles.Taking a swipe at SAD chief, Mann said that Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was the Lord of Sand Mafia in the state himself, was out there to gain public sympathy by harping on the old tune stating the recent floods were caused by the active sand mafia. Ridiculing his claim as a mere political gimmick, Mann said "It sounds like as if Al-Qaeda is accusing someone of disturbing the peace”.Others who were present on the occasion included Kulwant Singh Pandori, Manjit Singh Bilaspur (both MLAs), core committee member, Kuldip Singh Dhaliwal, state treasurer, Sukhwinder Sukhi, Dalbir Singh Dhillon, Jamil-U-Rehman, Prof Sadhu Singh, Baljinder Singh Chaunda, Gerry Barring, Gurdit Singh Sekhon, state media in charge Manjit Singh Sidhu, Mahila wing chief Raj Lally Gill, Harchand Singh Barsat, Neena Mittal Narinder Singh Shergill and others.
