Refrain from politics over plight of flood affected people- Bajwa to Harsimrat

Gives his one month salary for CM’s relief fund to help marooned villagers

Rural Development Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today asked the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal to desist from playing politics over the agony of the flood victims in this hour of crisis.Interacting with the media persons here today, the Minister said that the victims of flood affected areas were already distressed as due to the natural catastrophe. He said that doing politics over this issue reflects the insensitivity of the Akali leaders on this grave issue. Mr Bajwa said that state government led by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for bailing out the people in this hour of crisis.The Minister, who has been entrusted with the task to oversee the restoration of Power Supply to the flood affected areas reviewed this task with the Chairman cum Managing Director of PSPCL Mr Baldev Singh Sran. He asked the Chairman to restore the power supply in flood affected villages as soon as possible.

Replying to another query, the Minister, who reviewed the flood relief arrangement here today, said that every effort would be made to compensate the farmers for their losses. He said that the department of Rural development and Panchayats would also embark a special drive to reconstruct the infrastructural damage caused to roads and government buildings. Mr Bajwa also said that loss of even a single penny made to any individual would be fully compensated.The Minister also asked the officers of the Rural Development department to help the district administration in the relief operations. He said that every effort was being made to ensure that people in marooned villages was given maximum relief.Meanwhile, in a humanitarian act the Cabinet Minister announced to give his one month’s salary in the Chief Minister’s Relief fund for helping the people affected due to flood.On the occasion MLA Mr HArdev Singh Laddi, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal and others were also present.
