Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) TS Shergill today said that safety and security of people residing in flood affected areas was top priority of the state government.The Senior Advisor who visited the flood affected areas along with MLA Shahkot Mr Hardev Singh Laddi, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal said that Punjab government was committed for the well being of the people affected with this natural catastrophe. He said that the state government has set in place a foolproof mechanism for ensuring food, medical treatment and other basic facilities for the residents of inundated villages. Lieutenant General said that the state government would leave no stone unturned for bailing out the distressed people in this hour of crisis. The Senior Advisor said that besides ensuring relief to the people the government was also laying due focus on the plugging in the breaches. He said that the Army has already been called and due attention was laid on plugging the breaches at various places. Lieutenant General said that every effort would be made to ensure that people were extended a helping hand in this situation.Earlier, the MLA Mr Hardev Singh Laddi, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma  and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal apprised the Senior Advisor about the entire situation due to floods.  They also informed him about the preventive steps taken by administration to bail out people.On the occasion, CEO Smart City Mr Jitendra Jorwal, SDM-2 Mr Paramvir Singh, GoG Head Jalandhar General (Retd) Balwinder Singh and others were present.
