Coordinated effort by civil and police administration minimises trouble for people affected by flood

Led by DC and SSP administration carries rescue operation in Phillaur

A vigilant civil and Police administration today carried out massive rescue operations for saving the stranded people in flood, that took place due to breach in river Satluj,  affected areas of Phillaur sub division.As soon as breach took place at around 3:30 am at Burji number 14, 20, 31 and 32 the administration led by Deputy  Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal rushed to the spot with companies of NDRF, SDRF and  Army. Subsequently a massive operation was launched to protect the lives of people who were stranded in the flood water. While Deputy Commissioner supervised the  entire operations right from strategy to save the people to requesting the desired logistics required from the various quarters, the Senior Superintendent of Police went  into the deep water firstly on tractor than on the boat to save the stranded people in village Mao Sahib and Nawan Khera.The Joint operation was launched with top  priority of saving the life of people and to ensure that there was no loss of life. The state Police and officers of Drainage and irrigation departments ensured that all sort  of help was provided to the NDRF, SDRF and Army authorities for carrying out rescue operations. Likewise, efforts were also made to make sure that the evacuated  were sent to relief camps where they were provided food, treatment and other facilities.The Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police remained on  toes till the rescue work was not over and ensured that the entire government machinery was streamlined to help the people in this hour of need. At the end of the day it  was the well oiled coordination between the civil and police administration which ensured that the worries of people affected by floods were minimised.
