Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party held an emergency meeting at its Jammu Chhanni-Himmat office at 11AM on 17th August 2019 followed by a presentation of  a Memorandum to the Hon’ble Governor through the Div Com Jammu. DSSP in its meeting deliberated upon the urgency and compulsions of the Govt in keeping a nationalist and an illustrious Dogra leader Ch. Lal Singh, Chairman of its Party under prolonged detention without assigning any reason for it publically or in person to the leader. DSSP felt that continuation of detention of Ch. Lal Singh is suspect and worrisome as he always stood with the nation and was only leader in Jammu province who fought against the Kashmiri Dominance and intimidation of Dogras by the Kashmiri Rulers.House arrest of Ch Lal Singh equates him to the separatists of Kashmir which is highly derogatory and unbearable and against the popular sentiments of Jammu.  Instead of using his public image and political experience in harmonizing such unprecedented and alarming contingencies, keeping him under prolonged detention raises suspicion on the Govt intentions. DSSP proclaimed that Ch. Lal Singh was the first leader from Jammu who welcomed abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A, yet he was placed under detention and willy-nilly clubbed with separatist leaders of Kashmir valley which is not fair. His house arrest smacks of a political conspiracy by some vested interest to defame Ch Lal Singh.

Later a deputation of the DSSP, under the leadership of Party General Secretary Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu, went to the office of Div Com Jammu to demand immediate release of Ch. Lal Singh. Dr. Shishu, the General Secretary explained the concerns and apprehension of party rank and file on the un-called for detention of their tall leader whose reputation as mass leader and image a nationalist to the core was at stake by his prolonged absence from political scene of large public concern after the re-organization of the State. He further said that the detention of Ch Lal Singh has saddened the people of Jammu province beyond expression and seek his immediate release. DSSP also appealed to the Hon’ble PM and HM to protect the interest of Jammu for which they are fighting for the last 70 years by making Jammu an independent State. Addl Div Com received the memorandum addressed to the Hon’ble Governor of the State and assured the deputation that he will take up their demand with the concerned authorities and assured for forwarding  the memorandum to the Governor’s Secretariat at the earliest. Those who represented the deputation which met the Addl Div Com included Dr. Kamal Saini (Retd IGP), Col J P Singh, Sh Narinder Bhau, Dr Ravinder Singh, Dr Subash, Dr. H R Sharma, Adv.
