SI Sukhmander Singh Extorted 7.30 Lakh From Smuggler : AIG STF

Special Task Force (STF) has disclosed that SI Sukhmander Singh, former I/C Anti Narcotics Cell, Mohali extorted Rs. 7.30 lakh from a smuggler to let him free.In a press release here today, AIG/STF Harpreet Singh informed that STF got secret information that a few days before Lok Sabha elections, SI Sukhmander Singh, the then Incharge Anti Narcotics Cell, Mohali along with a police party in civvies laid a trap through some decoy source and detained Kuldeep alias Dipa with 8 grams heroin and Rs. 2,00,000/- near Verka booth, Morinda. Kuldeep was taken to CIA Kharar and SI Sukhmander demanded Rs 4,00,000/- more from him for his release. He said that this amount was arranged by Kuldeep's brother and handed over to SI Sukhmander Singh. Sukhmander Singh also kept two mobile phones of Kuldeep (IPhone and Samsung) with him. He was let off Kuldeep without any legal action.Elaborating further AIG apprised that after about a month, SI Sukhmander again went to kuldeep's house (when he was not present in the house) and searched and took away Rs. 1,30,000 with him. SI Sukhmander took 8gms heroin and total Rs 7,30,000 from Kuldeep. He said that FIR No. 71 dated 31/07/2019 u/s 384, 452, 120-B of IPC, section 7 r/w section 13 of PC Act, 1988 and section 59 of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered against SI Sukhmander Singh and his associate police personnel. Sukhmander Singh has been arrested from his quarter in police Station, Phase 8, Mohali.He said that now the investigation is being conducted by DSP STF Mr. Rajan Parminder Singh.
