Mukhyamantri Harit Vidyalaya Abhiyan to be held across State : Suresh Bhardwaj

State government is committed to environment conservation, increase forest cover and preserve natural beauty. Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, Education Department and Forest Department will start 'Mukhyamantri Harit Vidyalaya Abhiyan' from 9 to 16 August, 2019 to plant saplings in the different schools of state.This was stated by Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj while presiding a meeting through video conferencing with representatives of all districts of state regarding the campaign. He said that Children are future of the country as well as state. The participation of children in any activity makes it a mass movement. As everyone is already apprised about the devastating effects of global warming, which has snowballed into a world problem, the role of people especially children becomes very crucial in saving the earth well in time.He said that forest cover has always been given priority in the state and forest resources are valuable to the people. State government has banned the cutting of trees and by availing gas connection under Himachal Grihini Suvidha Yojna, the felling of trees for cooking has been reduced immensely.  During 'Mukhyamantri Harit Vidyalaya Abhiyan', forest Department will help in providing saplings of various kinds of plant according to the concerned area and educating students about importance of forest and environment. 5 saplings will be planted in every Primary and Middle school besides 10 saplings will be planted in each High and Senior Secondary school. Special emphasis will be given on conservation and protection of the planted saplings.The Minister said that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has urged people to plant saplings in the state through Van Mahotsav. In this direction, 'Mukhyamantri Harit Vidyalaya Abhiyan' will be started on 9 August, 2019 at Government Senior Secondary School Saloh in District Una. The closing ceremony of campaign will be held on 17 August, 2019 at Dharamshala in district Kangra in presence of Chief Minister. The aim of this campaign is to plant more saplings in schools, creating a conducive learning environment and imbibing spirit of hard work in students.During the meeting, representatives of administration, education department and forest department from all districts provided information of preparation and other activities of this campaign and expressed their commitment to make it successful.  Chairman Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education Dr. S.K. Soni, Chairman Higher Education Council Professor Sunil Gupta and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
