Jai Ram Thakur pays homage to brave soldiers of Kargil aggression

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid homage to the brave soldiers of the country,  who made supreme sacrifice in the Kargil aggression for safeguarding the frontiers of the nation during  a function organised here today in the Gaiety Theatre by the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), Shimla to mark the 20th anniversary of  'Kargil Vijay Diwas'.Speaking on the occasion, he said that the people of the country would always remain indebted to our brave soldiers, who laid down their lives for our security and pride of the nation. He said the people of entire nation stood united with our soldiers at the time of crisis during Kargil aggression, twenty years ago. Recalling the strong political will power of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that though Pakistan was in dominating heights during the Kargil war and pressures was built up to reach to a compromise between both the nations but Shri Vajpayee showed his  strong political will power and fully backed the Indian army.

He said that the then governments at the Centre and the State provided all possible financial assistance to the families of the Martyrs of Operation Vijay besides providing them employment, gas agencies, and petrol pumps.The Chief Minister said that we are proud that despite a small state, Himachal Pradesh has always made big contributions for the sake of nation and especially our soldiers have led from the front. He said that 52 soldiers from Himachal Pradesh attained martyrdom during this operation and it is a matter of utmost pride for every citizen of Himachal Pradesh that out of total four  Param Vir Chakra, two were conferred upon the valiant soldiers from the state besides six Vir Chakra and six Sena Medals. Chief of Staff ARTRAC, Lt. Gen. G.S Sanga, Lt. General J.K Sharma, other senior Army and Civil officers and citizens of the town were present on this occasion.Famous singer Amya Dabli presented patriotic songs on this occasion.
