10 students of Anganwadi centers, government schools undergone free heart surgery in Barnala: Civil Surgeon

Under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) of the government, as many as 10 students of various government schools and anganwadi centers of Barnala district had undergone free heart surgery. While disclosing the information about RBSK, Civil Surgeon Barnala Dr. Jugal Kishore said that the programme has been aimed at providing free treatment for 30 diseases, including birth defects such as developmental delay, congenital heart diseases and disability or other deficiencies, to children aged between 0 and 18 years. He added that special teams of health department were regularly screening the students of various Anganwadi Centers and Schools.Dr. Jugal Kishore said that during the screening, these 10 students have been identified suffering from congenital heart diseases and all of them had undergone free heart surgery. He added that thalesemic students have also been assisted with free bus travel passes along with other facilities including free blood, medicines and bone marrow transplant.Meanwhile, District Manager Kulwant SIngh added that health department has also been administering tablets of Iron-Folic acid in Anganwadi Centers and Government and aided schools. He said that RBSK teams were also making the students aware of hygiene, balanced diet and vector borne diseases. On this occasion District Family and Welfare Officer Dr. Lakhbir Kaur, RBSK Coordinator Sukhpal Singh and Satnam Singh were also present.
