The Local Government Minister, Punjab, Brahm Mohindra today inducted 20 new Fire Tenders thereby giving more teeth to the fire services. The minister flagged off these newly inducted fire tenders here today from the Municipal Bhawan in Sector-35.Giving details, the minister said that the cities/towns to these 20 fire tenders would be allotted in accordance with the demands of the City/Town residents, Local populace and the requirements of the concerned local industrial authorities. He also disclosed that considering the fast approaching 550th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, A special fire tender has been dispatched for Sultanpur Lodhi. A total of 186 fire tenders are already available for the fire services and with the induction of 20 new fire tenders the total number has risen to 206.

Mr. Mohindra also added that the recruitment of 800 new Firemen would be made soon in order to strengthen the fire services in the State as well as deal effectively with the fire mishaps. Elaborating more, he said that giving a major relief to the State residents with regard to fire safety, It has been decided that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) necessary considering the fire safety aspect of any building, could now be obtained through online mode thus sparing the applicants need of making rounds of the offices.The minister while exhorting the people of Punjab also added that strict adherence to the norms of the National Building Code (NBC) be ensured in any bustling place such as Multiplex, Marriage Palace, Coaching Centre, Educational Institutions or the Industrial Concerns. He also informed that the Department has given one month’s time after which the violators of the NBC would be strictly proceeded against. On this occasion Director Local Government Mr. Karnesh Sharma and others Senior Officers were also present.
