Punjab Simplifies Procedure Of Mutation Of Unregistered Wills-Majithia

Affidavit Would Be Sufficent Instead Of Personal Appearance In Case Of Unanimity Of Dependents

In a significant decision, the Punjab Revenue Department today simplified the procedure of mutation on unregistered wills. Now, in the case of unanimity amongst all dependents, they just to give an affidavit instead of appearing in person. Presiding over a maiden meeting of State Revenue Advisory Committee here today Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue Minister, Punjab said that earlier all the dependents had to personally appear before the Revenue Officers for getting the mutation and transfer of property. He said that it was a long and time consuming process and creates lot of harassment to NRIs especially in such cases. He said that after a detailed discussion of panel of State Revenue Advisory Committee, it has been decided that in case of unanimity amongst the dependents, the mutation can be done by submitting an affidavit instead of personally appearing before the revenue officers. 

The Minister said that Punjab Government has constituted this committee to ensure proper upkeep of revenue records, simplification of registration process besides implementation of schemes relating natural disasters and riot victims. He said that besides Administrative Officers, MLAs also have been included in this committee to access the problems being faced by the common people. 

Prominent amongst others, who were present in the meeting included Mr. Pargat Singh, Mrs. Vaninder Kaur Loomba, Mr. Simarjit Singh Bains (all MLAs), Mr. N.S. Kang, Financial Commissioner Revenue, Mr. Sarbjit Singh, Secretary Revenue, Mr. Arvinder Singh Bains, Special Secretary Revenue, Mr. S.S. Khara, Secretary Revenue and Mr. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, Deputy Secretary Revenue.
