Shahkot SDM Leads Hundreds Of Residents In 'Walk Against Drugs'

Solicits Their Fulsome Support And Cooperation To Make Dapo Huge Success

Residents of Shahkot sub-division on Friday took part in a unique initiative ‘Walk against Drugs’ organized under the Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) program started by Punjab Government.Led by Shahkot Sub-Division Magistrate (SDM) Ms. Charumita, hundreds of residents walked for five kilometers which initiated from DSP Office, Main Bazar, Gandhi Chowk, Ramgarhia Chowk, Mohalla Bagh Wala, Civil hospital road, Malsian Road, Moga road and others before culminating at back to DSP Office. Addressing the gathering during the walk, SDM urged them to be an active part of this program and spread the message against drug abuse. She said that now the time has come when all of us must join hands to ensure that the curse was wiped out.She told that that the basic motive of organizing the walk was to galvanize the people for this noble cause and ensure that the message of the anti-drug crusade was spread in every nook and corner of the district.Ms. Charumita expressed hope that as the brave, hard-working and resilient people had extended help to the government for eliminating terrorism from the state, in the same manner, the scourge of drugs would also be routed out with their active support and cooperation.SDM appreciated the efforts of representatives from various organizations including Mahila Shakti Sanstha, Watawaran Sambhal Society, Sri Navyug Urja Group, City Club, Citizen Welfare Club, SP Club, local Dushhera Committee and Neki Ki Diwar for giving support to the walk.
