Cops Seize 1.3 Kg Heroin, Rs 8.39 Lakh Drug Money In Separate Incidents

Continuing its drive against drug peddlers by keeping a vigil through high-level checking points in the district, the rural police have arrested two drug peddlers including a Mizoram woman and recovered 1.3 kg heroin and Rs 8.39 lakh from their possession during separate nakas. The accused have been identified as C Lal Chhandami of Republic Venglai Kaipui of Mizoram and Kuldip Kumar of Ganna Pind of Jalandhar.Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of police (SSP Jalandhar rural) Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal said Phillaur Police Station SHO Inspector Mr Prem Kumar was conducting checking of the vehicles at Sutlej River Bridge around 7.30 pm on Sunday when a woman boarded off from the bus and started walking towards to Jalandhar side.

Navjot Singh Mahal said that on suspicion, the lady cops apprehended her who revealed her identity as C Lal Chhandami of Republic Venglai Kaipui of Mizoram and they checked brown coloured bag which was being carried by her which led to the recovery of 1 kg heroin from the bag.She was immediately taken into custody and a case under section 21 of the NDPS Act was registered against him at Phillaur Police Station.SSP further informed that Bhogpur Police Station SHO Inspector Mr. Naresh Kumar Gurdev Singh along with police party carrying out nakabandi at GT road near Village Kharal Kalan around 9 pm when the cops stopped a white i-20 car (PB08-DU-3308) which was coming from Pathankot side for the checking.The man behind wheels revealed her identity as Kuldip Kumar and when frisked, the cops recovered 30 gm heroin from his possession. The cops also recovered Rs 8.39 lakh from a plastic bag kept near the driver seat.He told that a case under sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him and a detailed probe is on in both cases.
