Overall development of children should be purpose of Education : Acharya Devvrat

Governor Acharya Devvrat said that the purpose of education should not be only to provide academic knowledge to children but also their overall development. While emphasizing on the education of children he said that such education should be given, which would be helpful in nation building.The Governor was speaking as the chief guest in the program organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the new building of Sanjay Gandhi Om Prakash Garg Memorial Public School in Sujra-Babain, Kurukshetra today. He said that the basic purpose of any educational institution was to educate the children with full knowledge of science and technology, to be physically healthy and well-cultured. The education which does not have this purpose was incomplete and we cannot build a good nation without it.Acharya Devvrat said that education has a lot of importance in life. This was not a business but an important task of nation building and human development. He said that he had a long experience of 35 years of education and he has experienced how overall development of a student was possible.The Governor said that there was no shortage of academic knowledge but there was a lack of good values. Expressing concern over the drug-addiction in society, he said that this evil was making the future of our youth dark. He said that in spite of receiving higher education, there was a shortage of good values in children in the current perspective and such education was not of any use.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the values of life while promoting the teacher-student tradition. He said that parents and teachers have more responsibility for the education of children in the schools. He said that education was such a wealth that makes a person human. While congratulating the School Management Committee, he said that this institute will make significant contribution in the field of education.Earlier, the Governor also planted saplings in the school premises.Member of Rajya Sabha Lt. General Dr. D.P. Wats appreciated Acharya Devvrat for his outstanding contribution in the field of education.Earlier, President of the Governing Body of Sanjay Gandhi Om Prakash Garg Memorial Public School Pawan Garg welcomed the Governor and gave detailed information about the school activities.
