Punjab Rural Development Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for betraying common people and farmers who had voted him to power in the name of Vikas. He said now he was playing with their sentiments by thrusting on them a film actor Sunny Deol who can’t speak even two sentences.“Missing in Modis campaign this time is Vikas narrative. It is not that he has not done any Vikas. He has handed over Vikas to a few like Ambani and  Adani while the common people have been cheated as evident from hike in price in gas cylinder from Rs 400 before 2014 to about Rs 900 now. The price of diesel has increased despite fall in petroleum prices in the international market. Modi government has sabotaged even public sector concern like the BSNL to benefit Ambani in telecom sector. Farmers were still fighting for the implementation of Swaminathan Commission report on remunerative prices for farm produce”, he added. He questioned as to why Modi was not talking of development issues and had  diverted the electoral discourse to security and such issues. He said the retail price of cement had suddenly increased by about Rs 80 per bag last week. He alleged the cement companies had funded  BJP’s election campaign and hence immediate pay back.He challenged the Prime Minister to list his performance on the implementation of his 2014 that had been reduced to Jumla Manifesto.Addressing  a series of meetings to mobilize support for Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar fielded from Gurdaspur, Bajwa said here was the right person to articulate their concerns in the Lok Sabha while the BJP had brought in Deol. He said Deol could not speak even two sentences on the issues concerning the people in this border constituency. He urged the people to make the right choice rather than repenting later. He said Modi had sent this candidate who prefers to move on the highways rather than entering the villages. How can such a person understand the issues and problems concerning the people, he asked.
