Continuing its endeavor to encourage the young voters to cast their votes during the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the district administration today inaugurated another selfie point at the busy Model Town market.Inaugurating the selfie point General Election Observer Mr. I Samuel Anand Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the initiative was aimed at sensitizing the youth for participation in democratic process.  They said that this endeavor under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was aimed at enhancing the participation of youth in the polls. Both the officers said that selfie craze was prevalent amongst the youth and this point would be instrumental in not only providing youth a good photo op but also ensuring that they exercise their franchise enthusiastically. The General Election Observer and Deputy Commissioner said that this point would not only provide a new place to the people for getting their picture clicked but would also disseminate the message of ethical voting to them. 

They said that the point has been purposely set up at busy Model Town market so that people coming this place could use it aptly for clicking their pictures. They hoped that this selfie point which has catchy slogans would motivate the voters especially the youth to exercise their franchise freely and overwhelmingly. The General Observer and Deputy Commissioner also said that more such efforts would also be made to encourage more and more people to cast their votes in a free, fair and transparent on May 19. They categorically said that the district administration was committed for ensuring maximum participation of the voters during the ensuing general elections.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh.On the occasion the officers Model Town Shopkeepers Association and Model Town Mobile Association including Mr. Rajiv Duggal, Mr. Vicky Juneja, Mr. Mohit Hansh, Mr. Lally Ghuman, Mr. Anil Arora, Mr. Ramesh Lakhanpal ,Honey Kakkar, Sukhbir Sukhi , Bhupinder Singh Bhinda and others welcomed the General Observer and the Deputy Commissioner.
