Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Lok Sabha polls candidate from Gurdaspur parliament constituency Sunil Jakhar said that during last five years of Modi's rule at centre, there has been a feeling of insecurity among minority communities in the country. While campaigning in different segments of his constituency today, Jakhar said that India is a secular nation and all of us have been guaranteed equality status by the constitution. But the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, BJP pursued the politics of hatred; this triggered fear among minority communities across the country. The BJP leaders preferred to divert attention of people from core issues by raising one or the other flimsy dispute and skipped   implementing the schemes to uplift of Dalit and downtrodden communities across the country. He said that Congress will never let such forces to succeed who try to destroy the secular image of the country to meet their vested political interest.

Jakhar said that instead of leading the country to development that they had promised, the BJP leaders raised the issues of SCs and minorities unnecessarily to polarize the votes in the election. He said that many schemes were launched by the Congress government for the welfare of minority communities and now the party has further announced to launch the Nyay scheme in its manifesto which will cover all households whose income is less than Rs. 12,000 per month.  If voted to power, the union government led by Congress will provide assistance up to Rs. 72000 to such families. The benefit of this scheme would be available to the poor people of each category and religion, he added.Sharing with voters, details of the development works done in his last 18 month's short tenure as Member of Parliament and his road map for the next five years, Jakhar called them to judge the candidate on the basis of performance. He said that state government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had provided sufficient funds for the development of segments falling in Gurdaspur constituency and assured to intensify the speed of development further.
