Capt Amarinder gets overwhelming response in road show

The Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh today got any overwhelming response from the people during a road show organised in the city today.The road show started from Ram Bagh, in the Amritsar Central assembly segment. Accompanied by local MLA OP Soni, Surjit Kohli, the brother of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Raj Kumar Verka, Karamjit Singh Rintu, Harjinder Thekedar, Jugal Sharma, Jasbir Singh Dimpa and others, Capt Amarinder moved through different areas where he waved to the crowd which came out to meet him.Standing in an open vehicle, he was led by about 200 youth on the motorcycles. They were shouting slogans in favour of Capt Amarinder. On the way he was stopped by people who talked to him and wished him good luck.Acknowledging their noble gesture, Capt Amarinder promised that he will ensure that he came to their expectations. He said, he was touched by the love and affection showered by the people of Amritsar during the last one month.Appealing them to vote for him on April 30, he said, Amritsar needs a better voice in the parliament who should understand the problems of the people better.After passing through various areas, the road-show concluded at Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar. The Congress has demanded transfer of SSP Gurdeep Singh Gill for working for the ruling party alliance candidate.In a complaint to the CEC, Rana Gurjit Singh, covering candidate for Capt Amarinder Singh said that they had proof that he was forcing his juniors to influence voters in the jurisdiction of the district. This was not the first time this had been done and it had been brought to the notice of the authorities earlier too but to no avail.
