Congress candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahab Manish Tewari today accepted Akali Dal candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra’s challenge to debate various issues related to development in Shri Anandpur Sahab parliamentary constituency.“I feel really grateful to you that you have offered me an opportunity to debate with you various issues, as not only would we know each other, but also the people of Shri Anandpur Sahab will also get to know us both”, he told Chandumajra, while addressing a series of public meetings in Kharar assembly segment organized by senior party leader and former minister Jagmohan Singh Kang.Accepting the challenge, Tewari said, he has always loved to debate whether at the local, national or international level covering all the issues, particularly those related to development. He said, Chandumajra was welcome to choose the time, place and also various issues he wanted to debate with him.

“Whether it is my contribution and your contribution towards Punjab, whether it is the five year performance of the NDA at the centre, or the Bargadi sacrilege, and your chronic absence from Anandpur Sahab that has provoked people to ask you to ‘go back’, I am ready to debate on anything and everything with you, and I am waiting to listen from you about the time and place of your choosing”, a confident Tewari told Chandumajara while accepting his challenge. The Congress spokesperson said, he understood Chandumajra’s frustration over the public wrath he was facing in Shri Anandupur Sahab constituency as everywhere he was being asked to “go back”. “Now that you have thrown up a challenge, I hope you don’t run away from it”, he dared the Akali candidate.Tewari said, while he did not want to prove his debating skills to anyone, much less to someone like Chandumajra, but he did not want to reject the challenge as this will also help the people of Sri Anandpur Sahab to evaluate them both and make an informed choice on May 19.
