Election Office To Remain Open On Weekend To Facilitate Candidates For Getting Nomination Forms And Certified Voter Lists

In order to facilitate the candidates in getting nomination forms and certified voter lists to file their nominations for the general elections, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma has asked the Election staff to remain in the office during the weekend.The Deputy Commissioner, who reviewed the arrangements for the nomination process starting from Monday April 22, said that the office was open on Saturday (April 20) and would further remain open on Sunday (April 21) to facilitate the candidates. He said that the candidates could get the forms for the nominations and approved voter lists during these two days. Mr. Sharma said that the staff of the Election Tehsildar has been asked to perform this duty and assure that the candidates desirous of filing the nominations do not face any sort of problem.The Deputy Commissioner said that the all the arrangements have been finalized for the nomination process to take place on all the working days between April 22 to 29. He said that the nomination fee could be deposited by the candidates on the spot as special staff has been deputed for this purpose. 

Varinder Kumar Sharma  said that CCTV cameras have been installed in the entire District Administrative Complex to keep a strict vigil over the violation, if any, of Model Code of Conduct.The Deputy Commissioner further said that Video Surveillance Teams would also be deputed around and within the District Administrative Complex to ensure that no violation of Model Code of Conduct takes place. He reiterated that the Videography of the entire process of the nomination by candidates would be conducted to ensure complete transparency in the process. Mr. Sharma further said that the District administration was duty-bound to hold the ensuing general elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Sachin Gupta, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Balwinder Iqbal Singh Kahlon, Election Tehsildar Mr. Manjeet Singh and others were also present.
