Five Persons Arrested In Sas Nagar; One Pistol Recovered From Them

In a bid to eradicate militancy from roots, State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar today busted a militant module and arrested five persons in this regard.In a press release, AIG SSOC, SAS Nagar Varinder Paul Singh stated that acting on the direction given by DGP Intelligence, Punjab, SSOC, SAS Nagar Mr. V.K. Bhawra, the Special Cell today busted a militant module, which comprises highly radicalised and motivated youth. He said that Special Cell arrested Harvinder Singh R/O Village-Rally, Sector 12, Panchkula, Sultan Singh R/O Vill-Saidpura,Dist-Kurukshetra, Haryana, Karamjeet Singh R/O Village-Raoke Kalan, Dist Moga, Lovepreet Singh R/O Baliyan, Tehsil Dhuri, Dist Sangrur and Gurpreet Singh R/O #2510, Sector 20-C, Chandigarh from SAS Nagar.Divulging more, He said that they are planning to kill specific targets including Hindu leaders and members of Dera Sacha Sauda, who were responsible for incidents of sacrilege/desecration. After radicalisation over social media platforms created by suspected foreign based individuals based in Europe, these persons organised several meetings and were planning to indulge in various type of violent actions to disturb peace and communal harmony in the state.Mr. Varinder Paul Singh further said that a case has been registered against them at PS SSOC, SAS Nagar. He said that these highly radicalised and desperate youth were in process of mobilisation of funds, and already had procured weapons and are planning to arrange weapon training in Jammu & Kashmir. They were also in touch with militants including Jagtar Singh Hawara of Babbar Khalsa who is lodged in jail, Ranjit Singh Pakhoke, active member of Khalistan Tiger Force, residing in Germany.

AIG said that 1 pistol of .32 bore (along with magazine and 4 live rounds) and 15 letter pads of Babbar Khalsa International have been recovered from them. Further investigation is in progress to unravel the entire conspiracy and network of operatives based in India and abroad.
