Capt Amarinder appeals youth to join fight against drugs

Former Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh has appealed to the youth to join the fight against the drugs. The first step towards this, he said, will be to defeat the forces which were patronising the drug trade and trafficking in the state.Addressing an impressive public meeting at Sultanwind in Amritsar South, organised here last evening by Harjinder Singh Thekedar, Capt Amarinder said, it was the right time to get rid of the people who were trading in drugs and spreading this scourge.Blaming Bikram Majithia for patronising the drug trafficking, he said, the Akalis were now seeking to legalise the drug trade as they want to make money out of people’s funerals. He pointed out, Akali MP from Faridkot Paramjit Kaur Gulshan had admitted that she alongwith several party MLAs had urged Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to legalise the drug trade. “And that is what we have been saying for a long time that the Akalis are patronising this trade and now they have admitted it themselves”, he remarked, adding, they are hardly bothered about our young generation.Among others present on the occasion included Harjinder Thekedar, Gurjeet Aujla, Padam Sharma, Baba Gurmukh Singh, Jasbir Dimpa, Gurmel Singh Mahal, Gurmukh Singh, Navtej Singh, Jass Sultanwind and others.
