ADGP Gurpreet Deo Flagged Off Bike Rally Against Menace Of Drugs

With the motive to raise awareness against menace of drugs, Thumpers Café in association with Special Task Force, Punjab today organized a Bike Ride from SAS Nagar to Chandigarh in commemoration of the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev. The Bike Ride was flagged off by Gurpreet Deo, ADGP/STF from SAS Nagar. 500 riders of the bikers group “Thumpers Café”, 20 riders of Punjab Police, 20 riders of STF and four riders from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh participated in this distinguished ride. Bikers clad in 'Kesari Turbans' raised anti-drug slogans with missionary zeal.At a function held at Ananda Apartments, Sector-86 SAS Nagar, Ms. Deo said that our Martyrs, who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the country, are an inspiration to free the society from the spectre of drugs and to exhort the youth to lead a drug-free, healthy and happy life. ADGP unequivocally said the drug menace was the biggest hurdle in realising the dream of our forefathers who had fought relentlessly for emancipating the country from the yoke of British imperialism. She said the time has come when the war against drugs should be further transformed into a mass movement to ensure that the state was made totally drug free. 

Gurpreet Deo added that all volunteers to work zealously for achieving the target, which was a humble but befitting tribute to our youth icons, including Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.This rally concluded at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. In the concluding event ADGP Ms. Deo also made a presentation on the Comprehensive  Action Plan of the Punjab Government to tackle drug abuse in the state. Dr. Sandeep Bhola, MD, International Certified Addiction Professional (ICAP-II) spoke about the symptoms of drug addiction and the ways and means to tackle this menace. The bike ride was cheered throughout the route by the public and was appreciated for the positive message it conveyed to the youth and the society. She added further that Bike rides were also taken out simultaneously in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Moga and Nawanshaher.On this ocassion other dignitaries, who were present are Mr. B Chandershekhar, IG STF Patiala Zone, Mr. RK Jaiswal, IG STF Border Zone, Mr. Rampal, DIG STF and Mr. Rajinder Singh Sohal, SP STF.
