District Administration Ropes In Iconic Singers Master Salim And Simar Kaur To Sensitize People About Voting

In order to further motivate the people to participate in the ensuing general elections in large number the district administration today roped in legendary Punjab singer Mr. Salim Shehzaada popularly known as Master Salim and budding bollywood singer Ms. Simar  Kaur as district Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) icons. Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, accompanied by Master Salim and Ms. Simar  Kaur, said that the administration aims to ensure that more and more number of people could be encouraged to vote. He said that both these singers have carved a niche for themselves in the music industry with sheer hard work and dedication. Mr. Sharma said that both these icons have huge popularity due to which they could disseminate the message of voting far more efficaciously.   The Deputy Commissioner said that these singers would be the visible face of administration during the Vote campaign. He reiterated that the success of any democratic country depends on active participation of youth in the electoral process. Mr. Sharma said that the youngsters could apply for the vote till April 19th before the polls adding that they could also register them as voters through a single click on their computer or mobile, way back from their home as to facilitate them the Election Commission of India has launched National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App).

Lauding the efforts made by the district administration led by the Deputy Commissioner to sensitize the people on issue of voting rights, Master Salim and Ms. Simar  Kaur said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction for them to be part of this campaign. They said that being born and brought up here at Jalandhar, it was their moral duty to make the people aware of their voting rights. Master Salim and Ms. Simar Kaur also assured fulsome support and cooperation to the district administration for this noble cause.Pertinently, Master Salim was a widely acclaimed singer who has sung several hindi/ Punjabi songs. Likewise, his religious numbers were highly popular amongst the masses. Budding singer Ms. Simar Kaur was also a talented singer who had made her presence felt in the finals of Super Singer and Awaaz Punjab Di talent hunt programs at Channel V and MH-1 respectively. She has also given her voice in a famous number of bollywood film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety besides others.On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, District SVEEP Coordinator Mr. Surjit Lal and others were also present.
