180 liquor vends allotted in Moga, department earns Rs 1.46 crore as application fee

Excise officials expect revenue of Rs 129 crore during the next financial year from vends, says Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans

The district excise department on Wednesday, earned Rs 1.46 crore as application fee for the allotment of 180 liquor vends for the 2019-20 financial year here.The event, to draw of lots for the allotment of 268 Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and Punjab Medium Liquor (PML) vends in the district, which was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans was held at Windsor Gardens here. However, only 180 liquor vends of total 268 were sold in this draw as no application was received for the Dharamkot Circle (Urban) Group - 1 and 2, Nihal Singh Wala Circle (Urban) Group 1, 2 and 3 after these five groups attracted no applications from public, or contractors the draw for these groups will be conducted later.The department allotted 180 liquor vends, including 140 PML and 40 IMFL vends.The process for allocating 23 licensing units of the Moga district was held in the presence of Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Madan Mohan Singh, Excise Taxation Officer (ETO Excise) Piara Singh, ETO HS Dimple and all the applicants.As per the information, the department had received a total of 487 applications for allotment of the vends and collected Rs 1,46,10,000 as application fee from the intending licence holders with expected revenue of around Rs 129 crore during the next financial year.DC Sandeep Hans said that Liquor vends of Rs 104.23 crores have been auctioned in this draw while liquor vends worth Rs 25 crores are unsold and fresh date for their draw will be announced soon.
