Plantation drive to be taken up in convergence with MGNREGA : Angrez Singh Rana

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana on Sunday directed the district officers of all the departments to take up the plantation programme under Convergence mode with MGNREGA in the district with an aim to increase the green cover of the district.He asked the officers to jointly launch the drive by planting fruit trees, mulberry trees and other plants in the district in a well coordinated  manner under convergence mode. He said that the Mulberry plantation and Fruit trees shall add to the beauty of the district and change the panorama of the surroundings besides a lot of scope for employment embodied in this sector.Rana directed all the concern officers for taking necessary steps regarding ensuring and enhancing the survival rate of plants and cautioned the department to procure disease free plant material besides fulfillment of all codal formalities under rule.He further directed ACD Kishtwar to facilitate departments for successful completion of  plantation drive through convergence under MGNREGA where Rural Development department will bear labour expenditure and the cost of plant material as well as the identification of beneficiaries be done through indenting departments.It was informed in the meeting by Sericulture Officer that about 7,200 Mulberry plants were distributed among 24 beneficiaries in Nagseni, Chatroo,  Mughalmaidan and Palmar area.CHO briefed that 3280 plants of Walnut, Apple and Apricot were distributed in the month of December in Marwah and Warwan and around 16484 plants were distributed across the district during the current financial year.Further, 2500 High density plants are being procured from the Kashmir Valley and shall be distributed among the beneficiaries in the district.Earlier 30,000 saplings were distributed and planted across the district under various schemes till date. Project Manager IWMP, Kishore Singh, ACD Kishtwar, Anil Kumar Chandail, CHO Kishtwar, S. K Gupta,  Sericulture Officer Kishtwar and others concerned remained present during the occasion.
