Walkathon promoting the concept of Menstrual Hygiene and Cancer Prevention organised in Mohali

Regular PAP smear test, mammograms and pelvic ultrasounds help in prevention of common cancer among women.

Walkathon promoting the concept of Menstrual Hygiene and Cancer Prevention was organised by Renowned Gynaecologist & IVF expert Dr Preeti Jindal as a part of international women's day in association with Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), Mohali Obs and Gynae Society (MOHOGS), The  Touch Clinic, IMS Chandigarh and IMA Mohali here today at Mohali.It was jointly Flagged by SSP Chandigarh Nilambari Jagdale, wife of  British High Commissioner Bettina Andrew and Dr Preeti Jindal.  It concluded by honouring eleven distinguished women working for society, which includes wife of British High Commissioner Bettina Andrew; Social worker Gitanjali Gill; Chief Advisor of Kabir School Gurminder Chadha; Entrepreneur Kamini Goyal, President of women power society Monika Arora; Journalist Dr Neha; Lakshita entrepreneur Rasna Sabharwal;  Home Maker Tanu Sharma; Executive Tamanna and Journalist Taruni.Addressing the gathering, Dr Preeti Jindal said that the goal of menstrual hygiene  is to ensure that women and girls can manage their periods in a way that is not only healthy, but that enables their full participation in school, work, and other activities.Detailing about the steps for prevention of common cancers like cervix cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian and breast cancer, Jindal said that to avoid cervix cancer every women should get PAP smear test every 3 years, take cancer cervix vaccination. To prevent occurrence of  breast cancer women aged  > 40 years should get mammograms once in every  two years. Also pelvic ultrasounds should be done once in a year for checking the status of ovaries.
