Rural Police Arrest J&K Resident With 1.4 Kg Heroin

18.16 Kg Of Heroin Recovered Since July Last Year, 17 Pos Wanted In Various Cases Arrested During Special Drive

The rural police have arrested a Jammu and Kashmir resident and seized 1.4kg heroin from his possession on Monday.The accused has been identified as Prabhjot Singh (26) of Chakk Moosa village in Jammu and Kashmir.In a press conference,  Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Navjot Singh Mahal said that a team of police led by SHO Maqsudan Mr Jarnail Singh had laid a naka on Randhawa Masanda and Raipur Rasoolpur road,  suddenly an Alto Car ( JK- 02-AL-2340) driver stopped the car and started cleaning windscreen.SSP said that on suspicion, the cops sought documents from him for the purpose of checking and asked him to come outside.On his frisking,  the cops recovered the contraband packed in a piece of cloth hidden under his jacket,  he said and added that the accused was taken into the custody. Further  the car was found registered on the name of Jasbir Singh of Sarno village in Jammu and one DL on the name of Bikram Singh was also recovered.SSP revealed that Prabhjot had studied +2 class and then got a job in Metro Store in Delhi in 2012 and then started the job of courier service in Jammu during which he got in touch with Raju of Sunder Nagar and Vicky of Inder Nagar.Mr Mahal said that the seized consignment was sent by Vicky to Jalandhar and he had to call Prabhjot to whom it was to be delivered. He said that a case under section  21 of NDPS Act has been registered against him. SSP added that from July 13, 2018, the rural police have seized 18.166 kg heroin. Likewise, he said that in a special drive the Rural Police has so far arrested 17 POs wanted by the district police in various cases. Mr Mahal said that the drive would further continue in coming days.
