Launch event of scheme for the development of Knitting & Knitwear Sector

Ministry of Textiles organized an exclusive launch of A Comprehensive Scheme for Development of Knitting & Knitwear Sector under PowerTex India directly connected to the Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Zubin Irani though Video Conferencing. The main event was organized at India Habitat Center New Delhi connecting three different locations i.e. Ludhiana in Punjab, Tirupur in Tamil Nadu, and Kolkatta in West Bengal today. Special Secretary Textiles and Textile Commissioner were also present in the event at New Delhi.Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Amritsar was also connected to this event from  Suvidha Center of NIC at DC Office, Ludhiana for the awareness and dissemination of the schemes under PowerTex India for Knitting and Knitwear Sector among the entrepreneurs and stakeholders of Ludhiana cluster. This event was attended by Mahesh Khanna, General Manager, DIC Ludhiana, Mr A.K. Dhawan, Assistant Director, Textile Committee, Ludhiana, Mr Vinod Thapar, President, Knitwear & Textile Club, Ludhiana, Mr Vineet Gupta, General  Secretary, Rahon Road Textile Association, Ludhiana and various entrepreneurs of the industry, The Union Textile Minister Smt. Smriti Irani has launched the Scheme by way of Releasing a Booklet and screening the film on the scheme under PowerTex India for the development of Knitting and Knitwear Sector. Component of the schemes are Group Workshed, Yarn Bank, Common facility Centre, Solar Energy scheme, Mudra Yojan etc. with the different quantum of benefits. The scheme will be in operation up to 31.03.2020.Further Union Textile Minister interacted through video conference with the entrepreneurs of Ludhiana Cluster and other connected locations regarding knitwear quality mark and Knitwear University. The Union Textile Minister has agreed upon on the point of Knitwear quality mark. As regarding Knitwear University she has also assured to joint this concept with the existing samarth scheme of Ministry of Textiles. The event was concluded with the vote of thanks by Sanjay Sharan, Textile Commissioner at New Delhi.
