Punjab Government to take stringent action against fraudster Travel Agents, says Channi

"The Punjab Government would enact a law to check illegal migration and stop exploitation of the youth of Punjab at the hands of fraudulent travel agents. The Punjab government would also ensure stringent action against fraudster Travel Agents." The Technical Education & Industrial Training and Employment Generation Minister, Punjab, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi said this while presiding over the inaugural session of the two day International Conference here today at ITFT College. This conference is being organized by the Punjab Government in collaboration with the ICSI to spread awareness amongst the Punjab Youth regarding Overseas opportunities in Employment and Education.The Minister said that the Punjab Government would not allow any travel agent to play with the lives of the youth of Punjab. He elaborated that the State Government is making all out efforts to save youngsters from fraudster agents and provide them legal pathway to go overseas.Mr. Channi further said that the Punjab Government would set up a special cell to provide services to help youth of the State for going aboard for education and Employment purposes. 

The minister also said that keeping in view the increasing trend among Punjabi youth to study abroad, the Punjab Government had taken this initiative for ensuring prosperous future of the younger generation and would create ample employment opportunities which is the  purpose of Punjab Government. The Minister also said that this mechanism would not only protect students from being exploited by the unscrouplous travel agents but would also provide a single credible platform for study and employment opportunities aboard.Mr. Manmohan Singh famous Punjabi film director and noted cinematographer of Bollywood and Mr. Harpreet Singh Robo a professional international bodybuilder and wrestler were honoured on the occasion.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Ms. Linda from Canadian Consulate, Mr. Tom Director North India British Council, Mr. N.S Kalsi Additional Chief Secretary, Home Affairs, Punjab, Mr. D.K.Tiwari Secretary Technical Education and Industrial Training, Mr. Rahul Tewari Commissioner -cum- Director Employment Generation, Mr. Nishikant Singh IFS Ministry of External Affairs, GOI, Dr. K.V.
