MGSIPA Organises Training Programme On Prevention Of Sexual Harassment Of Women At Workplace

Aiming to generate awareness about various legal and institutional frameworks for Prevention of sexual  harassment of women at workplace in government and private sector, Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA)  Punjab Regional Centre Bathinda launched 3-day training Programme for Government functionaries of 7 Districts including Bathinda, Moga, Muktsar, Faridkot, Ferozpur, Fazilka and Mansa at M C Conference hall here today.This Programme which have  been sponsored by Department of Personal and Training, Govt of india will cover various topics related to this significant societal subject including gender issues, dimensions and types, guidelines and circulars issued by the government on this subject.Various experts including Dr,Dileep kumar, Principal,BKSM Law College Moga Dr.Nimmi,HOD,Law Department , Pbi. University Regional Centre Bathinda,and Advocates including Mr. Kashmiri Lal and Gurmeet Singh Sekhon are delivering lectures followed by question- answer sessions.Initiating the discussion,Mr.Jarnail singh, Regional Project Director MGSIPA Regional Centre Bathinda said that women play multidimentional role in our society and it is our collective responsibility to ensure the safety and dignity of women in the wokforce. Referring various key legistation measures and Acts in place for preventing and protecting women against sexual harassment in the workplace, Mr.Jarnail Singh said that these provisions must be implemented by the concerned department to ensure effective redressal of complaints registered with the authorities under time bound programme. He encouraged women functionaries to be confident personalities to fight against this social evil collectively in their respective establishments.Earlier, Mr. Mandeep Singh Coordinator, Regional Centre Bathinda gave background and objective of the programme.
