Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh and MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku today underscored the need for enhancing socio-cultural activities at Virsa Vihar to connect the youngsters with the rich cultural legacy of the state.Addressing the gathering during the concluding day of the Basant Mela organized by the District administration here at the Virsa Vihar, the MP and MLA said that this place needs to be developed as a state of the art centre for disseminating spreading message of glorious cultural heritage of the state. They said that efforts must be made to apprise youngsters about the heritage inherited by them from the state. They said that this could be done only if the Virsa Vihar plays a proactive role for this noble cause adding that all of us should pledge to promote and preserve our cultural heritage.Lok Sabha MP and MLA also said that Virsa Vihar which was inaugurated by the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder during his previous government could act as a catalyst for apprising our youngsters about the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

Both the leaders said that no stone would be left unturned for developing this place as a socio-cultural hub of the region. Underlining the need for organizing more such events, they said that this would help a lot in acquainting our future generations with the cultural heritage of the state.Lok Sabha MP and MLA said that such melas would ensure that our future generations stay connected with our culture.They also congratulated the people on Basant festival adding that this festival marks the beginning of spring season which not only add colours to life but also brings a lot of happiness and joy in the air.Meanwhile, Chaudhary Santokh Singh also announced a grant of Rs 4 lakh for the construction of boundary wall for the open auditorium to come up at the centre.On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Mr Alok Sondhi, Mr Deepak Jalandhari, Prof Inderjeet Singh, Captain IS Dhami, Ms Ramanpreet Kaur, Municipal Councilor Ms Jasleen Sethi and others were also present.
