Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI for taking bribe Rs. 7,000

Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at Anti Fraud Staff Ferozepur red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 7,000.Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Kulwant Chand was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Sukhwinder Singh of village Beri Kadrabad, Ferozepur. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 15,000 to help him in a complaint case and the deal was struck at Rs. 12,000. He further said that he had paid Rs. 5,000 as a first instalment to the accused ASI.After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 7,000 of second instalment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
