Aman Arora meets Speaker, seeks setting up of ‘Liquor Corporation’ to wipe out liquor mafia

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sunam MLA  met the Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Rana K P Singh on Friday here seeking, through a Private Member’s Bill, to introduce ‘Punjab State Liquor Corporation Bill 2019’ to wipe out liquor mafia from the state.Arora sought the introduction of the proposed Bill in the coming Budget Session of Vidhan Sabha to wipe out liquor mafia enjoying political patronage. Through the Private Member’s Bill, Arora sought to invite the Speaker’s attention to the Congress party’s manifesto prior to the Assembly elections with Captain Amarinder Singh making tall promises to the people of the state and the finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal’s discourse in the 2017  budget session.Citing examples of various states, like Delhi, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttranchal, Arora which had already implemented the proposal, said Liqour mafia would be totally wiped out with introduction of the proposed Bill. This will not only eliminate the liquor mafia out of the state but also fill the government’s empty coffers. He said the traditional political party leadership being head over heels into the nefarious trade had been responsible for the promoting the mafia culture.He said that the proposed corporation should handle the retail and wholesale sale, purchase, distribution of liquor in the state. It must also ensure that the production of brew and spirit by the bottling plants and liquor manufacturing units was in proper order. Each bottle must bear the hologram and bar coding to check illicit sale and purchase of liquor.Arora said that with the introduction of the proposed Bill, the liquor mafia would be wiped out of the state, besides filling the empty coffers of the government. This would also generate employment opportunities for the youth in the state.The deputy leader of opposition Sarabjit Kaur Manuke, MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Jai Kishan Singh Rodi, Amarjit Singh Sandhoa, Kulwant Pandori, Meet Hayer, Legal wing head Adv. Jastej Singh and Spokesperson Neel Garg were also present on the ocassion.
