T.S. Shergill calls upon GoGs to work for the overall benefit of society

GoGs understand their responsibility in Hold meetings with DC, SSP and GoGs

Senior Advisor to Punjab CM and Vice Chairman of Guardians of Governance (GoG) Lt Gen (retd) T.S. Shergill today called upon the GoGs to work for the overall betterment of the society by conveying the actual predicament of the public in villages. After discussing about scope of further improvement in the functioning of GoGs with Deputy Commissioner Praneet and SSP Nanak Singh, Shergill also presided over a meeting with the GoGs from Bathinda and Mansa. He said that the GoGs are eyes and ears of the government who not only convey the genuine problems of the masses but also get them solved.  "Around 5 lakh complaints/suggestions are sent by the GoGs during the past nearly one year out of which close to 50 percent are resolved," the retired Lieutenant General said.He said that the scheme, which was launched on the directions and under the direct monitoring of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, has been doing very well. Appreciating the role of retired army-men in focusing their attention towards unbiased and error-free information, Shergill said that this is the most effective manner of resolving public grievances across the state. He said that the issues like laying of sewerage pipes, filling pothole roads and providing corruption free environment in government offices are the s key features of this scheme which was started in November 2017.He said that around 4,000 GoGs have already been appointed across the state while nearly 1500 more too would be inducted soon. He stated that soon every village will have one GoG in Punjab.ADC (g) Sukhpreet Sidhu, ADC (d) Sakshi Sawhney, SDM Amarinder Singh Tiwana, SDM Varinder Singh, SDM Khushdil Singh and Executive Member PPCC Captain (retd) Harminder Singh, Captain (retd) R.S. Gill were among the others who were also present during today's meeting.
